A Cellphone-Cancer Connection?

A new government study is reigniting the debate over whether cellphones can cause cancer. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health found that male rats exposed to cellphone radiation for nine hours a day were more likely to develop brain cancers known as gliomas, as well as tumors in the heart called schwannomas. The longer the rats were exposed, the higher their incidence of these rare tumors, NBCNews.com reports. Complete results from the $25 million study won’t be available until next year, but with more than 90 percent of American adults using mobile devices, the researchers decided their initial findings warranted an early release. “We felt it was important to get that word out,” says toxicologist John Bucher. “Overall, we feel that the tumors are likely to be related to the exposures.” The study, however, produced some conflicting results. Oddly, female rats showed no effects from the radiation, while male rats exposed (Read More)

Sun Exposure Reduces Blood Pressure

A little time in the sun can do more than just give you a tan; it may help reduce your blood pressure. The incidence of hypertension and cardiovascular disease correlates with latitude and increases during winter, and researchers from the University of Edinburgh set out to find out why. They hypothesized that the seasonal and latitudinal associations with hypertension could be related to the effects of the sun’s UV radiation on nitric oxide (NO) in the skin, in light of the fact that NO metabolites are abundant in human skin. In the body, NO typically has a vasodilating effect, facilitating blood flow and reducing blood pressure. In 24 healthy volunteers, irradiation of the skin with UVA lowered blood pressure with decreases in circulating NO and increases in NO metabolites. Dietary interventions to increase circulating NO had no effect on these UVA-induced changes, which suggests that the blood pressure reduction was (Read More)

Link Between Vitamin C & Combating Cancer

The importance of Vitamin C in combating cancer is of paramount importance. The body has two intrinsic lines of defense against the growth of a tumor, both of which involve Vitamin C. The first is our immune system. Even after the most successful surgery, radiation or chemotherapy exercise, some cancer cells are bound to remain. It is our immune system that hunts down these cells and kills them. Vitamin C is required to mobilize specialized cells that fight cancer and other infections too. Under severe duress, the immune system is challenged and needs high amounts of Vitamin C. In a nutritionally deficient body, the supplies of Vitamin C dwindle, resulting in unstoppable growth of tumors. Dr. Tony Jimenez, a world-leading pioneer in natural cancer treatments and founder of Hope for Cancer speaking of the importance of vitamin C said, “Each of us produces several hundred cancer cells every day of (Read More)

Taking Iodine Could Save Your Life

Unfortunately, due to today’s environmental pollutants, iodine deficiency has become a worldwide epidemic. It’s common knowledge that pollutants cause cancer, but what many don’t know is that these pollutants cause a deficiency that can make us sick. Iodized salt–supposedly a solution to iodine deficiency– provides a false sense of security. The government RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of Iodine for adults is a paltry 150 mcg. (micrograms).  Noted medical doctor Guy Abraham, MD said, “RDA doses of iodine are ineffective in preventing oxidative DNA damage and have no anti-cancer effect in the body.” Did you know that doctors once considered iodine to be one of the most beneficial medicines on the planet? Iodine is utilized by every cell in the human body and a lack of iodine can make it difficult to properly detoxify the body; create thyroid dysfunction and promote cancer cell growth.
