Omega-3 fatty acids found in cold water fish and fish oil supplements reduce the risk of cardiac death up to 30 percent, says a review of 14 randomized, controlled trials published in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology. Omega-3s reduced the risk of cardiac death by 17 percent in people who had elevated triglycerides or LDL cholesterol. But patients who took more than 1 gram every day of EPA and DHA – the main fatty acids found in fish oil – reduced their risk by almost 30 percent.
We have no arguments with the study below. In fact our Fish/Flax Oil has a combination of both the Omega-3 fish oils referenced in the study – we have also added flaxseed oil to to provide nutritional support for the cardiovascular system, brain function, the immune system and now research tells us – weight loss benefits.
The science behind omega-3 fatty acids is more compelling than ever. How critical is our need for enough omega-3 fatty acids? Extremely critical, according to a report in the Public Library of Science Medicine Journal. Harvard researchers looked at twelve dietary, lifestyle and metabolic risk factors such as tobacco smoking and high blood pressure and used a mathematical model to determine how many fatalities could have been prevented if people took control of their health.
